Chatham-Kent Welcomes New Children’s Treatment Centre

The Ontario government is reaffirming its commitment and support for a new Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent that will expand capacity to meet the growing demand for special needs services in the region.

”The Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent is greatly recognized for its dedicated service and commitment to the local community and surrounding area,” said MPP Trevor Jones, Chatham-Kent-Leamington. ”The Children’s Treatment Centre and their unwavering dedication to supporting children and youth with physical, developmental, and communication challenges is commendable. Their work as a non-profit treatment centre not only benefits Chatham-Kent, but also significantly impact the broader region, providing essential care and services that enhance the quality of life for many families.”

Once complete, the new treatment centre will replace the existing site, providing additional space to treat more children and youth, and reducing wait times for a range of children’s rehabilitation and respite supports. The centre would offer a range of specialized services and supports in a safe and accessible space, including:

-Speech-language pathology

-Occupational therapy

-Physiotherapy

-Services for children and youth impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder

-Audiology

-Respite services

-Autism services

-Services for children and youth with multiple and/or complex special needs.
