MPP Jones announces funding for Seniors Active Living Centre programs in Chatham-Kent-Leamington

Seniors staying fit, active and socially connected to their communities

Chatham-Kent-Leamington— Today, MPP Jones announced Ontario government the third quarterly installment payment for the Seniors Active Living Centre(s) in Chatham-Kent-Leamington.

Senior Active Living Centers include:

Blenheim & Community Senior Citizens Group – $12,500

CLUB DE L’AGE D’OR LE FOYER POINTE-AUX-ROCHES – $5,082.50

Leamington District Half Century Community Centre – $12,500

Active Lifestyle Chatham – $12,500

Morpeth Heritage 60t Club – $12,500

Ridgetown and Area Adult Activity Centre – $12,500

“This initiative reflects Premier Ford’s and our government’s continued dedication to supporting seniors,” said MPP Trevor Jones, Chatham-Kent-Leamington. “Seniors Active Living Centres provide a welcoming space where older adults can reconnect with familiar faces, forge new friendships, and stay actively engaged in their community.”

The funding comes from an annual investment of more than $15 million, an increase of approximately one million dollars from last year.

“Seniors Active Living Centres are the best way for our seniors to stay fit, active, healthy, socially connected, close to their homes and in our communities”, said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “Our government is proud to invest in Seniors Active Living Centre programs that are improving the health and independence for our seniors.”

SALCs offer learning opportunities and a variety of recreational and social of activities including fitness, healthy lifestyle and wellness classes that are important supports in communities.
