Meet Trevor Jones
Trevor Jones was born and raised in Leamington, Ontario. From an early age, he was inspired by his diverse community and developed a strong passion for public service and civic responsibility.
After graduating from the University of Windsor, Trevor began his career with the Ontario Provincial Police, serving with distinction in Essex County and Chatham-Kent. His assignments included time on the Emergency Response Team and the Public Order Unit. Through his law enforcement career, Trevor earned a reputation for integrity, leadership, and a deep commitment to the safety and well-being of the people he served.
Motivated by his experiences in policing and his desire to effect broader change, Trevor transitioned into the private sector, taking on an executive role in the fresh food industry. In this position, he led Canadian procurement operations and cold supply chain management, while also advocating for Ontario farmers, increased market access, and innovation in agri-food technologies. His work helped position Ontario as a global leader in producing safe, nutritious food, while advancing food security and sustainability at home and abroad.
Trevor was elected as the Member of Provincial Parliament for Chatham-Kent–Leamington in June 2022. He first served as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, where he championed initiatives to expand local food processing, increase exports, and build resilient rural economies.
In June of 2024, Trevor was appointed Associate Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response, where he led the government modernization efforts of Ontario’s emergency management framework, and launch Ontario Corp, a group of skilled professionals and volunteers that can deploy to help communities respond to natural disasters and other emergencies, while promoting civic engagement and community participation.
Re-elected in February 2025, Trevor was appointed to Cabinet as Minister of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness on March 19, 2025. In this capacity, he continues to be a tireless advocate for Ontario’s agricultural producers and processors—championing rural development, supporting value-added innovation, and enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of the agri-food sector.
Trevor remains deeply rooted in his community and committed to public service. He is a frequent visitor to farms, agri-businesses, and community organizations across the province, listening to concerns and working collaboratively to find solutions. He continues to live in Leamington with his wife and three sons.
